34% of children between the ages of 10 and 17 have unintentionally been exposed to sexual material - pictures of naked people or people having sex. Even though your children might be too young to seek out inappropriate content on the Internet, it is very common for them to unintentionally encounter explicit, undesirable and offensive material.

How does the Livia Web Protection product work?

Home Web filtering protection has never been this easy and effective. With Livia Web Protection, parents have the option to select from pre-defined Web filtering policies that are based on different levels of protection relative to the age of their children and overall browsing habits.

Once filtering levels are set, browsing to specific Web pages is either allowed or blocked, based on the category of a Web site. For example, if pornography is blocked and a child accidentally browses to an adult Web site, access to that Web site will be automatically denied and a block Web page will appear on the screen. Should parents prefer to block or allow more access, making changes to filtering policies is quick and easy.

Because Livia is powered by Websense® technology, Livia users are utilizing the same proven enterprise class Web filtering for their homes, with access to the Websense® database of sites, which contains more than 35 million Web sites. This database of Web site addresses is updated on a continual basis, providing real-time protection from the thousands of unwanted and dangerous Web sites that pop up daily.

I'm worried about my child being targeted by online predators. Can Livia Web Protection help keep predators away?

Predators are commonly found in online chat rooms through gaming sites and other similar types of sites. If you block these types of sites, your child will be a less likely target. However, what’s more important is to teach your child the basic rules of being online, such as never to provide their personal information, location, school name or anything to friends they have met online. They should never assume a person they met online is who he or she said they are. A 13 year old girl could very well be a 60 year old man. Visit our online safety tips section for important tips your children should know..

I’m worried about my child’s excessive use of social networking sites, like facebook and myspace. Can Livia help me manage this?

You can set up Livia to block social networking sites (using the "Restrictive" protection level) if your child is too young to access these types of sites. However, social networking has become a significant part of today’s online generation. What is even more important is to set realistic limits that you and your child can agree upon and to communicate the importance of limiting the exposure of personal information to private contacts only.

Can Livia Web Protection be used for my business, school or community organization?
